Cupping Therapy in Marrickville

Cupping therapy is a treatment technique that may be used by physiotherapists as part of a broader treatment plan. At Kinesis Physiotherapy & Wellness Clinic, cupping may be considered where clinically appropriate and is usually combined with assessment, education, hands-on therapy and exercise rehabilitation.

Your physiotherapist will assess your symptoms, goals, medical history and treatment preferences before deciding whether cupping is suitable for you.

How Cupping May Be Used

Cupping involves placing cups on the skin to create suction over selected areas. In physiotherapy, it may be used as part of treatment for muscle tightness, movement restriction, discomfort or recovery needs.

It is not usually used as a stand-alone treatment. At Kinesis, cupping may be combined with manual therapy, mobility work, strengthening exercises and advice to support your overall treatment plan.

What to Expect During Cupping

During treatment, your physiotherapist will place cups over the selected area and monitor your comfort and response. Some people may feel a pulling or pressure sensation during treatment.

Cupping can leave temporary circular marks on the skin. These marks are common and usually fade over time. Your physiotherapist will explain what to expect before treatment starts.
