Therapeutic Ultrasound in Marrickville

Therapeutic ultrasound is a modality that may be used by physiotherapists as part of a broader treatment plan. At Kinesis Physiotherapy & Wellness Clinic, ultrasound may be considered where clinically appropriate and is usually combined with assessment, education, hands-on therapy and exercise rehabilitation.
Your physiotherapist will assess your condition, symptoms, goals and treatment preferences before deciding whether therapeutic ultrasound is suitable for you.
How Therapeutic Ultrasound May Be Used
Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves applied through a handheld treatment head with gel on the skin. In physiotherapy, it may be used as one part of treatment for selected soft tissue, joint or injury-related presentations.
It is not usually used as a stand-alone treatment.
At Kinesis, it may be combined with movement assessment, manual therapy, strengthening, mobility exercises and self-management advice.
What to Expect During Treatment
During ultrasound treatment, your physiotherapist will apply gel to the treatment area and move the ultrasound head over the skin. The treatment is usually comfortable and should not feel painful. Your physiotherapist will monitor your response and adjust the treatment plan where needed.
